As teenagers, Nneoma and her friends, Ada and Nkechi, were deeply affected by the struggles of their mothers and aunts, who were all trapped in abusive and patriarchal marriages.
They saw how their loved ones were stifled, belittled, and oppressed by their husbands and the societal expectations placed upon them. The trio vowed never to succumb to the same fate, to become independent ladies who would have nothing to do with men.
They were determined to break the cycle of oppression and forge their paths.
